WHY NO? The Emergency Declaration has worked for decades to keep Pennsylvanians safe from floods, hurricanes, blizzards, and now a deadly pandemic. Both Republican and Democratic Governors have used this declaration to protect PA citizens and businesses and to obtain needed state and federal financial support.
When disasters strike and lives are at stake, we do not have time to wait for 253 politicians in Harrisburg to have a political debate. We need the Governor to act quickly and decisively. Disasters are NOT political and should NOT be subject to a political process.
WHY YES? This amendment applies to all Pennsylvania state, county, and local governmental entities, and guarantees equality of rights under the law.
Our research indicates there is no organized opposition from volunteer fire companies to this proposed change. The money allocated currently is underutilized. The Camp Hill Democrats support this measure.
